Impressive Performance From Holbeach Girls

Wow what a difference the week makes.

After the shock of their first ever game, the Holbeach United Girls put in an amazing performance against Spalding Orange. The hard work put in at training showed on the pitch.

Despite losing the game the performance of the team, not only impressed their coaches but also the coaches of Spalding Orange and of course the supporters of Holbeach United Girls.

The first half started well with Holbeach on the attack. The game was an open attacking affair with both teams testing the goalkeepers.

Spalding opened the scoring midway through the first half, second and third goals quickly followed for Spalding. The heads of the Holbeach Girls did not drop and on their next attack Hope opened Holbeach Girls account with a fantastic left foot finish. The noise that greet the goal from the girls supporters was amazing.

Towards the end of the first half Spalding grabbed 2 more goals to make the half time score 5 – 1 to Spalding Orange.

Holbeach United Girls made tactical changes at Half Time.

This lead to a much more solid performance from Holbeach. Holbeach defended superbly in the second half, conceding one more goal from the penalty spot. The penalty was saved by Lily but the rebound scored.

The improvement from the first game to the second was fantastic. The game was thorughly enjoyed by all the girls despite the defeat.

What was pleasing for the girls were the comments from Spalding Orange Manager, telling them that the game was the hardest game they have played this season and if they continue to play together they would be a very good side. Various people watching the game commented on how much the girls have improved.

All the girls played fantastically well with stand out performances from Ruby, Hope & Lily.
